Makara Sankranti Celebration

Makara Sankrathi at Vidyodaya Public School Udupi

The Pre-primary teachers and students of Vidyodaya Public School, Udupi, came together to celebrate the auspicious occasion of Makara Sankranti with great enthusiasm and devotion.

A unique highlight of the celebration was the reverent procession of the Utsava Murthis. It was first brought in a palanquin (pallakki) and ceremoniously placed in a boat at Madhwa Sarovara. The boat was then taken on three ceremonial rounds, symbolizing peace and prosperity.

Following this, the Utsava Murthis was placed in a beautifully decorated chariot, which the children enthusiastically pulled as part of the grand procession.

The Pre-primary Coordinator, Mrs. Latha R. Nayak, briefly explained the significance of the festival, enriching the children’s understanding of its cultural and spiritual importance.

The celebration culminated with the children gathering in front of the chariots and chanting shlokas dedicated to Lord Sri Krishna, creating a serene and spiritual atmosphere. The event not only fostered cultural values but also filled the day with devotion and joy.
