A Workshop On First Aid


First Aid Workshop at Vidyodaya Public School Udupi

The First Aid Workshop held on 25th March 2024 at the VIDYODAYA PUBLIC SCHOOL UDUPI was a significant event focused on educating educators and non teaching supporting staff  about essential first aid practices. The workshop featured two distinguished resource persons, Dr. Priyanka Kini and Dr. Rajaram Prabhu, Department of Anesthesiology KMC manipal who provided valuable insights and practical demonstrations on various first aid techniques.


Key Topics Covered

1. Basic First Aid Principles:

   - Importance of first aid.

   - Initial assessment and approach to an emergency situation.


2. Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR):

   - Steps for performing CPR on adults and children.

   - Hands-on practice session for participants.


3. Wound Care:

   - Cleaning and dressing wounds.

   - Managing bleeding and preventing infection.


4. Fractures and Sprains:

   - Identifying and stabilizing fractures and sprains.

   - Use of splints and bandages.


5. Burns and Scalds:

   - First aid treatment for burns and scalds.

   - Differentiating between different types of burns and their management.


6. Choking:

   - Recognizing choking symptoms.

   - Techniques to relieve choking in adults, children, and infants.


          The workshop began with a warm welcome speech by Mrs. Chandrika Bhat, Coordinator of classes I and II, who emphasized the importance of first aid knowledge and the relevance of the workshop in promoting safety and well-being.


   Participants actively engaged in discussions and asked questions, making the session highly interactive and informative.


  The resource persons conducted live demonstrations of first aid techniques, allowing participants to observe and practice the procedures.


Principal Mrs. Anitha P. Raj thanked and   presented a "Go Green" sapling as a memento to the resource persons, symbolizing growth and sustainability.


The First Aid Workshop was a resounding success, with participants gaining critical knowledge and skills that are essential for responding to medical emergencies. The expertise and clear instruction provided by Dr. Priyanka Kini and Dr. Rajaram Prabhu ensured that attendees left the workshop feeling confident in their ability to administer first aid effectively. This event underscored the importance of first aid training in promoting safety and preparedness within the community.


The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms. Archana Nayak, Coordinator of classes III to V , who expressed gratitude to the resource persons, participants, and organizers for making the workshop a success.


We thank our Management and Principal Madam for organising this workshop for the teachers, and supporting staffs.
