A workshop for Pre-primary teachers was conducted by Macmillan Education Publishers on Friday, 04 April 2025 at Vidyodaya Public School, Udupi. The resource person for the session was Mrs.Asha Devi N Macmillan Product Manager and the representative, Sathish Shetty Assistant Territory Manager Macmillan,the Pre-Primary Coordinator, warmly welcomed the guest and set the tone for the session.
The main focus of the workshop was on phonics sounds—how to teach phonics sounds effectively in the classroom. The session covered various types of phonics, with a special emphasis on Synthetic Phonics, which the school currently follows. Topics included short and long vowel sounds, the 44 phonetic sounds, and techniques such as the chin method, where students place their hand on the chin while sounding out words to better understand phoneme pronunciation.
The session was engaging, insightful, and proved to be very effective and informative for all the teachers who attended.
