On 30/08/2023 Udupi Postal division,Udupi, and Vidyodaya Public School, Udupi organised philately exhibition and workshop on rakhee day and teachers day. The exhibition and workshop was held at Vidyodaya Public School, Udupi.
"When the Internet and cell phones took over our lives, philately became limited as a charming hobby. With the goal to promote philately as a hobby and to educate the children about India’s culture, heritage, history and notable figures,” is the tagline of the event.
The exhibition showcased special stamps and envelopes on rakhee day and teachers day.
Event started at 10.00 a.m followed by a prayer. Master of ceremony was done by Mrs. Shubha Rao Vidyodaya Public School, Udupi and welcomed all the guests present in the event.
Event was Inaugurated by Shri Ramesh Prabhu, Superintendent of post, Udupi district and Mrs. Anitha P Raj, Principal, Vidyodaya Public School, Udupi.Resource person for the event was Smt. Vidya Baglodi,Senior philatelist and international medalist, exhibited her collection of Rakhee covers and explained the importance of hobbies in one's life. Shri Vasanth, Asst. Superintendent of Post Office Udupi; Shri. Jayaprakash, Smt. Poornima Janardhan, Postal Assistant, Senior philatelists and international medalist and Guinness Book of Worlds Record on Stamps and Birds holder Shri Daniel Monteiro, were present. Shri. Sandeep kumar, Principal, Vidyodaya Pre- University College,Udupi delivered vote of thanks.
During the workshop, students of Class I to X have been educated on how to develop philately as hobby the art of collecting and studying postage stamps. Students participated with great enthusiasm and gained unique experience.
